Suunto d9 audible alarms

Postby dazza » Mon Jul 15, 2013 11:19 am

Hi

I've got a d9 that I picked up from Trademe at a bargain price. It's working great except that I can't hear any of the audible alarms underwater. When I put it in dive mode I hear it chime when on the surface but I've never heard the ascent rate alarm or the low O2 (via wireless gas monitoring) alarms. Can anyone else with the same watch tell me if they have this issue? I'm wondering if I need to take it for repair (or get my hearing checked!)

I could never hear the alarms on my Suunto Cobra. Was never an issue.

Same with my HelO2s when I'm wearing a hood.

Alarms are at best a waste of time, at worst they drive complacent behavior. You cannot beat a visual awareness of what's going on.

Turn the alarms off. :)

I don't plan to rely on the audible alarms but I would have been disappointed if the watch was faulty. It sounds like it's not. Why bother even having audible alarms if they are inaudible underwater? That being said I've heard many other diver's computers beeping away - maybe the d9 is quieter than most! No noise pollution from me!
