Ali, I cannot remember when you are back in NZ but if it is before 30 November then you could check out the Auckland Freediving Club hosted "Deep Obsession 2013" comp in Lake Pupuke.

They have tentative approval from the Council to hold it then. Max depth would be 50m so not as impressive as the current World Champs. I will post another thread when details are confirmed. A couple of friends will be organising the comp. and no, I don't have plans to have a crack - I am just an interested observer for this sport.

I'll miss this one unfortunately - I return in March 2014. Thanks for posting all the comp updates.

FIM Results - NZ gets a Gold and Bronze for FIM men.

Will Trubridge gold with 115m, Alexei Silver with 110m, Jonathan Sunnex Brinze with 95m.

Kate Middleton was successful with her 61m dive and has set a new NZ record for women which placed her 8th.

Natalia Molchanova has set a new WR and won gold with 91m (silver was 78m - she is streets ahead of the following pack here!)

Ali,
Given your comments on the photogenic nature of the athletes you will probably appreciate this shot:

Video of William Trubridges gold medal 115m FIM dive and the new womens WR set by Natalia Molchanova of 91m for FIM (I read somewhere recently that this would be something like her 20th WR!!)

I cant think of anything more relaxing, than being in the downunder, breathing some nice clean fresh filtered 21% nitrox.

The web site for the AIDA Depth World Championships is http://www.aidaworldchampionships.com/ but it looks like it has exceeded bandwidth at the moment!

Best place to go for official results sheets is the Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Aida-Individual-Depth-World-Championship/482078701803553 (search for "AIDA Individual Depth World Championship" if the link does not work).
