Hi Kiwilanders, If anyone was wishing to see multitudes of CuttleFish breeding in mass numbers then now is the time to book a flight 'bound for South Australia' and onto the city/town of Whyalla just north/west of Adelaide city. This is the time of the year that they mate and in much less aggressive ways towards divers as other places experience. I have the Gravel Loader at Bass Point for a small number of CuttleFish to hang out - but I won't be getting too close for photographs, especially with the metre-long males.
Here's a CuttleFish from the Gravel Loader. Not a 'colourful' photo, but it also shows how you can easily be fooled that the floating mass of kelp right next to you ...

...I think also, that the CuttleFish have the best eyesight in the Animal Kingdom (or at least one of the best). Gliding past a ledge, feeling as if being watched - sure enough, in the shadows, floats a large metre-long CuttleFish ...watching.
