The Annual Boat Show was held in Auckland in the Weekend.
It was good to see a greater range of watersports represented, with more sailing, more kayaking, and especially more diving organisations represented.
NZUA had a stand there, promoting a greater awareness of some of the underwater related topics.
They had a petition which was getting some good response, for the abolition of shark finning.
A practice which most people find abhorrent, a waste of resources and a practice which has little or no respect for the undersea balance.
There was also a competition with the draw to win a Dive Cylinder, with a number of names going into the hat.
There was also some traction to be gained for the Dive forum, with a big banner promoting NZ's online dive community.
It was great to catch up with the pres Tony K and meet some of the Team, who are making some major changes to get the focus of NZUA in the right place, and put the right people in to promote and protect the dive community.
Keep up the work guys.
There were also a number of Dive Shops and manufacturers represented, including The Dive Magazine, Splash, A Dive Shop, Wettie wetsuits (great top catch up with you Darren).
Overall it was a better balanced show than other years.
