For years now various groups have been frantically trying to get funding to purchase a sidescan, but to no avail. There is a group of mad keen wreck divers scattered round NZ that have the knowledge, know how, and keenness to get out there and look for and dive these amazing relics of history. Hell, I couldnt think of anyone that wouldnt be totally up for a Virginal wreck expedition!!!
So I have come up with an idea of pooling funding (because we ALL will benefit from finding these wrecks). That way one person doesnt bear the brunt of all the costs of a sidescan! Believe me if I had the bucks I would get one, no questions asked! I have been doing some looking into various sidescans and to get one (not flash, just meat and veg) it will cost round $6800us. So just simplifying things, if 10 people went into a pool, that means that the costs are shared between everyone. That way everyone has an equal share of ownership in the sidescan. When people take it out using it, they will be responsible for the safety and care of it. Insurance will cover any problems (or ultimately the person using it)
This way its being used all the time and we are finding stuff!!!!!
This is a call to arms - is there ANYONE on this list who would be keen to become a part of a whole in the search for wrecks in NZ (and beyond????) A little bit of bucks from a lot of people gets results. !! OR if you are loaded and want to contribute to the greater good of mankind and help the boys out then COOL!!!!
I eagerly await any responses. Lets get out there and find some rust!!!!
