Does anybody have a good source for pencils of the non-splitting variety when used in the water?

I can only source them on the web from overseas which seems a bit crazy...

just out of curiosity.. can you not use plastic carpenter's pencil?

my guess would be yes.
The wooden ones usually split due to water absorption.

I haven't looked for them in New Zealand yet.
