Scallops around Tutukaka area

Postby adreama » Tue Jan 22, 2013 2:00 pm

Hi All

Anyone prepared to give away state secrets such as where I can find scallops around Tutukaka or nearby? A group of us are going up to dive the Poor Knights over the long weekend and would like to grab some scallops. I had heard Whangaruru was closest - but that was info a few years old...hoping someone can advise other/closer areas?

So excited about the Poor Knights dives, the scallops are just going to be a bonus if we can find some.

Cheers

Haha.

Usually you will be told where they are just after the season ends.

I cant think of anything more relaxing, than being in the downunder, breathing some nice clean fresh filtered 21% nitrox.

haha...figured as much :) Typical tho...weekend in Tutukaka planned for so long, in an awesome lodge on the cliffs overlooking the Poor Nights, and the easterlies were blowingso hard we only got out there for 2 dives...but, our second option, the Bay of Islands and the HMS Canterbury were not a bad back up plan. BTW, the lodge (Lodge At Matapouri) is a great place to rent for group - 5 bedrooms with superkings or can split into 2 singles, 4 of them have ensuites if anyone is interested.
